ceux qui aiment Tintin
The first major UK adaptation of Hergé's comic classic, Tintin, staged at the Barbican at the end of November 2005, is back at the Playhouse for a timely Christmas run. This adaptation of Hergé's 20th book - 'Tintin in Tibet' - is directed by Rufus Norris, associate director of the Young Vic. The story, familiar to his many fans, begins when Tintin's friend Chang is lost in a plane crash in the Himalayas. The intrepid boy reporter sets off with his dog Snowy, his friend Captain Haddock and his unruly tuft of hair to help him. It's a great yarn for Christmas, exploring themes of friendship and loyalty, as well as large quantities of snow. The budding reporter-cum-investigator has been a children's favourite ever since his creation in the 1930s. The thinking man's Asterix turns 79 on 10th January but the stories have lost none of their impact or charm and still capture young imaginations.
